Beehive Collective to present new MTR poster and presentation in NC

The Beehive Collective is touring and actively searching for hosts across the country to present a picture lecture about Mountain Top Removal, revealing a massive new campaign about coal extraction that has been in the works since the spring of '08.

The beehive design collective, a radical education non-profit, is cross pollinating around the entire United States this fall, and coming spring of '09, with workshops, picture lectures and residencies at education centers, community organizations and all venues, large or small. Worker bees are hard at work with TWO massive, new graphics campaigns, and are eager to present them across the country as effective works-in-progress:

The True Cost of Coal: Bees have recognized an urgency for the creation of education materials about surface mining and mountaintop removal and their explosive collision with the historical and cultural landscapes of Appalachia. Our goal is to support the already-robust organizing of coalfield residents and resistors, climate change activists, and organizations with an elaborate multi-fold poster and an accompanying resource “tool kit”.

Mesoamerica resiste! and Resist Atlantica!: The Mesoamerica Resiste! graphic, while telling the story of resource extraction, militarization, and (under)development in Latin America, is strikingly relevant to the fight for local land control in the Northeastern United States and Atlantic Canada. Using these graphics as a springboard for discussion and information sharing, the beehive collective works to analyze and dismantle the forces at work in our capitalist society through a metaphorical lens of stories from the natural world.
