![]() drop HLS!
FROM THE NEWSWIRE:
Protesters confront HLS customer Quintiles and supplier, Staples. Huntingdon Life Sciences, known as Life Sciences Research in the U.S., is the world's most notorious contract testing laboratory which kills 500 animals daily to test agrochemicals, pharmaceuticals and common household items like food colorings and artificial sweeteners. Employees have been caught on videotape punching 5 month old beagle puppies in the face, documented breaking animal welfare laws, admitting to falsifying scientific data...They have locations in Britain and in New Jersey.
Afterwards, protesters made a stop in the neighborhood of Quintiles Vice President John Goodacre and his wife Gillian at 400 Deming Rd. in Chapel Hill, NC (919) 967-2747. Activists fliered his neighborhood and went door-to-door speaking to his neighbors about Quintiles' connection to HLS. One neighbor was disgusted after hearing about her friend John's connection to animal cruelty at Huntingdon, saying she was, "going to be sick." A little while later, John made an appearance to fetch his mail and was greeted by a group of protesters standing next to his mailbox waiting to talk with him. He tried his best to be amicable with us, but even with his British accent and PR evasions of topic, we did not let him stray from the real matter at hand. John claimed Quintiles has no connection to HLS, but we told him we would be back-and back again-at his house, and all of his co-workers' houses, until their business made a statement vowing never to use HLS; and, if they are not contracting with them, that demand should be met easily. We'll be waiting to hear back, John.

Jump To Comment: 1 2 3I asked once before but never got an answer.. How can I be notified of upcoming actions? I again would've loved to join in these events but I didn't hear anything about them. Could someone please post a suggestion on who I could contact to get me in the loop with the demos in the Triangle and surrounding areas? Thanks!
The Asheville Indymedia newswire is anonymous if the posters don't provide contact info, so there's no way to contact the organizers directly. Maybe contact the people who run closehls.net and ask for how to get in touch with North Carolina people?
